Where you’re born isn’t such an important factor, if you know you’ll have enough to eat every day. Unfortunately, if you don’t get enough to eat because you’re born in the wrong place, you’re probably not able to move to somewhere you will!
If you’re fortunate enough to be in the right place, and you have enough, wouldn’t it be great to share your abundance?
Those of you who follow my work on personal development and also my blog, know that I don’t find it at all fair that we’ve created borders (what we call ‘countries’) in order to protect what we consider is ours and no-one else’s. In my mind there are no borders. It shouldn’t depend on whether you’re born on a different side of a border – not the side in which there’s abundance but the other side where there’s a lack of everything that’s important for us to survive as human beings.
It might be that there are only two or three hundred meters to the border and the abundance beyond. But should it be that this border, created by human beings, determines who shall have and who shall have not?
In a world without borders we would all help each other to create a life that’s good for everyone alike: a world where there’s enough food, a roof to protect you, security and equal opportunities for a good education. This doesn’t mean that those of you who put in more effort can’t do that. It’s absolutely okay as long as you don´t destroy the principle that everyone should be able to have a decent life.
Of course, I know very well that the way our world is working today it’s hard to even consider the possibility; if the world were going to change into one without borders, it would probably take many, many years, but it has to start somewhere!
I hope to encourage you to think ‘outside the box’, because the normal way of thinking isn’t working – otherwise why do you think we have so many problems around the world today? Could it be that the borders which stop so many people from having a decent life are an important factor?
What do you think?
