Today we know that, on average, people have about 60,000 thoughts each day, but what’s more interesting is that at least ninety-five percent of them are the same thoughts as yesterday! This I’d call narrow-minded thinking, but you might wonder if it really matters what you’re allowing your brain to work on.

A majority of people are spending much more time on negative thoughts than positive thoughts, so you’re thinking these same negative thoughts over and over again, instead of focusing on having a good, positive life. You can so easily get caught up in very bad habits without realizing it, and with this in mind you must begin to take control of the way you look at yourself and your life. In other words, consider your ATTITUDE.

One of the biggest reasons for these negative thoughts might be that they’ve been stored in your brain from experiences in the past. They can be about shortage of money, worries about relationships, anxiety from being aware of a childhood that not was so good. There are of course people who are worrying about completely un-essential things, for example; if someone pushes in front of them in a queue; when the lady behind the counter at the supermarket treats you badly; a bad tone in a workmate’s voice etc. Just stop and think whether it’s right that so many absolutely silly things are allowed to affect us in this negative way!

Why not pause for a minute and think how many positive things you lose when you agree to let the negative things have such influence in your daily life. You can easily change this behavior by gaining control over your thoughts, letting more positive ones in than negative ones, thereby gaining control of your life.

The key is your attitude and how you develop it. If you do it right your thoughts will change and your life will, step-by-step, become a more happy one!

I often think about what’s most important in life and it’s also a question that frequently arises from people I’m coaching.

It’s very difficult to know of course – especially because it’s such a personal thing. Personally, through thinking about this for a long time I’ve come to the conclusion – it’s LOVE!

I don’t mean love in sexual terms, but the love for people that we show by how we behave towards them. It can be a spouse, other people, towards animals and nature, in other words it’s how you live your life.

Those who consider love as the most important thing to us human beings are frequently questioned about it and made to feel foolish. Ask yourself why it can be that so many people not are aware and see love as a threat instead of what it really is, just the love that all humans need so desperately.

Finally: Love is such an important thing for us human beings and unconditional love is the most important.

Every minute of every day you’re exposed to things, events, situations, people, etc. and you have the opportunity to evaluate all of these, based on your own experiences. Most of these events, etc. you may consider to be of a relatively insignificant nature and therefore, deserving of little or no attention. But there are ALWAYS situations which have the possibility of enabling you to do something very special – regardless of who you are and whether you think you’re someone who gets opportunities.

I’m sure that, like most other people, you’re naturally disinclined to change your old behaviour and actions. You may be complacent and think that all changes are for the worse. You may wonder why you should change something you’ve done for many years and been comfortable with. You’ve built yourself a world in which you’ve adapted yourself to your life and what you’ve achieved, without reference to your dreams or your youthful visions of what could be. Your security in what you’re doing now is what’s most important and any change will be a threat rather than an opportunity.

Security is considered to be the one thing you most aspire to as a human being, but it’s also one of the most inhibiting and restricting things you can aim for! After all – what is security? Is it when you just do what you know how to do and don’t dare to do what might be the very thing that will make your life what you really want it to be? Who knows, if it came, it might be what you were really waiting for. But would you recognise it anyway?

Answer: You’ll recognise it only if you have an open mind!

Selling With the Right Attitude. October 30, 2009

A while ago I was asked about my opinion regarding a good sales person.

The first thing I said was that this person needs a good attitude – towards him/herself, the consumer, the profession, and towards their responses to the different situations that they’re faced with. To people who follow my Blog on a regular basis, my view on attitude probably doesn’t came as a surprise.

However, let me give you some examples of attitudes that determine ‘good sales’.

  • There’s a good reason why you were born equipped with two ears and only one mouth – it’s so you can practice listening more to your customer!
  • Being genuinely interested in the needs of your customer.
  • Being passionate about your sales goals.
  • Being goal-oriented, creating goals then making plans for achieving them.
  • Following the plan and only turning away from it if absolutely necessary.
  • Being well-informed regarding your products as well your competitors.
  • Last, but not least, always looking for a win-win solution between yourself and the customer.

These of course are not the only things you have to manage, but if you achieve them you’ve reached quite a good level of salesmanship.

Everyone is a sales person in a way, even if it’s not our profession. You might want to see a particular movie and your significant other wants to see a different one. I can guarantee that you will now need to go through the same process of ‘selling’ your film choice as the sales person above.

You can find hundreds of similar situations similar in your daily life.

We’re All Born Winners! October 28, 2009

How can I say that?

Well, think about this; a few million sperm had to race to be first to the egg, and only one of them – yes one of them – actually made it! And that sperm content is 50% of who you are.

It also managed to get through the wall of the egg, which also had a tough journey down to the womb, and this carries the other 50% of who you are.

Can you define a winner in a better way? We could have been any one of a few million other people, but we are US!

Please congratulate yourself that you’re on the winning side – and what I mean by that is simply – it’s you that is here!

The Swedish Youngsters’ ”Dream”! October 25, 2009

We in Sweden are also affected by the international financial crises and that has caused many old habits to change.

Specifically in the centre of Sweden there are areas with many small communities where one big industry employs nearly all the people of working age. For many generations it has been a general habit for young people to have a job in this industry. You could say it’s their dream. Their parents, their parent’s parents and beyond, have all worked there. They start directly after elementary school which means they don’t receive an education for a specific profession, because their dream is to work in that particular company.

It hasn’t been a problem in the past to get a job there, but with this current crisis things have dramatically changed. Now most of those who’ve graduated from school have no job, and it’s on this point that I ‘need to speak out’. They don’t do anything to try to get a job somewhere else – even if it’s only a couple or just ten kilometers away. They ‘can’t’ leave their parents, friends, boyfriends or girlfriends, a pet or a place where they’ve always lived and worked!

So what happens is that the rest of us in Sweden pay them through our taxes, to do nothing while they are laying watching TV, playing computer games etc and waiting for job in that specific industry to occur.

What a dream to wait for while doing nothing!

Personal Development Needs To Be Nurtured. October 22, 2009

I often get asked the question “What specific things do you do in order to keep motivated, positive and maintain as good an attitude as possible?”

My simple answer is that I act as I speak, and every day I read or listen to something positive to do with personal development. I’m also very concerned to try to keep out, as much as possible, all the negative and destructive things that flow around out there and which are constantly trying to get into our super conscious minds.

For example; my wife Tina and I were listening to a speech given by Mia Törnblom, one of my colleagues in this business of personal development and motivation. The theme for the speech was strengthening your self-opinion, and it was very positive.

Our conclusion: Be sure to surround yourself with as much positive input as you can get, try to close out all the negative input and be with people who are positive for you. With this behavior you will attract much more positive energy than negative energy.

Please remember that personal development and motivation need to be maintained in order to keep them up to date. Just as flowers wilt through lack of water, so we ‘wilt’ if we don’t constantly nourish ourselves through our conscious efforts.

Many people have asked me to give my personal description of ‘attitude’ and while I think I have done it before, repetition doesn’t hurt.

It’s how you position yourself in relation to yourself, other people, and situations that pop up in your daily life. Put another way, it’s about your reaction to the things that occur.

I hope that with this explanation you can start to make improvements in your attitude and through that, get closer to being a winner in your life. However, don’t forget that you can’t be a winner in your own life if you don’t also help others to do the same in theirs!

I’ve been able to create a situation where I can control my work – or as I prefer to describe it – do my hobby. Some days ago it was very good weather, quite warm and sunny and a joy to be in Scandinavia this time of the year. So my wife and I decided to take the day off and went, probably for the last time this season, to one of our favorite places.

We paddled in the water and I can tell that I felt that this would be the last time this season. I’m sure that many people who recognized this possibility would have spoiled the experience by only thinking of the sadness of that, rather than enjoying the present and this very extraordinary day.

Listen to this: Live in the ‘here and now’ as it’s the only thing you can do. If you try to do anything else it’s just an illusion and an illusion is nothing more than fooling yourself. Please don’t let an illusion spoil a beautiful current experience.

Attitude and the Swine Flu October 15, 2009

Recently we’ve all been bombarded with so-called ‘news’ and ‘opinions’ regarding swine flu. Why this great attention? It hasn’t been any worse than any of the other types of flu that have affected us nearly every year. I can’t understand why this great amount of money has been spent on a vaccine that’s supposed to protect you against a slightly stronger than usual cold!

Frankly, who gains from this enormous production of vaccine and the massive production of information about the need to have the vaccine? Of course – it’s the drug industry that now produces and reaps huge profits with it – or can there be something more that we average citizens can’t begin to imagine?

Yesterday, the first person to get the vaccine in Sweden was interviewed about the ‘event’ by many journalists. To me this is crazy! Why bother giving this amount of attention to getting a vaccination? Can it be that the media is also involved in reaping profit from it?

Do we really know what´s in this injection? Why should we put this enormous amount of effort and money into protecting us from something that’s much less harmful than hundreds of other, much more dangerous illnesses?

There’s a lot that’s strange and confusing about swine flu and the mass vaccination that’s going on. To me it’s obvious that I shouldn’t expose my body to a drug injected into my arm. I simply don’t know what it really is, how it will affect me in the future, why there’s so much attention being given to the jab and so on.

I will absolutely not gamble with my health. If get the flu I know what I’ve got, but if I get the vaccine I don’t know what I’m getting. It’s as simple as that!
