Some time ago I read book about the Dalai Lama’s thoughts and advice regarding our happiness. I want to share some of his wisdom with you.
He said that when you put your peace of mind as the primary factor in being happy, it doesn’t mean that you deny your fundamental physical needs for food, clothing and shelter and a home because these still need to be fulfilled. But when you’ve fulfilled them the message is clear: we don’t need more money, more success and more fame, and we don’t need a perfectly shaped body or the perfect partner. Right in this very moment we have a mind, and that’s the only basic equipment we need in order to have optimal happiness!
It’s a Matter of Attitude Whether We Believe That The Earth’s Resources Belong to All of Us. July 6, 2009

Where you’re born isn’t such an important factor, if you know you’ll have enough to eat every day. Unfortunately, if you don’t get enough to eat because you’re born in the wrong place, you’re probably not able to move to somewhere you will!
If you’re fortunate enough to be in the right place, and you have enough, wouldn’t it be great to share your abundance?
Those of you who follow my work on personal development and also my blog, know that I don’t find it at all fair that we’ve created borders (what we call ‘countries’) in order to protect what we consider is ours and no-one else’s. In my mind there are no borders. It shouldn’t depend on whether you’re born on a different side of a border – not the side in which there’s abundance but the other side where there’s a lack of everything that’s important for us to survive as human beings.
It might be that there are only two or three hundred meters to the border and the abundance beyond. But should it be that this border, created by human beings, determines who shall have and who shall have not?
In a world without borders we would all help each other to create a life that’s good for everyone alike: a world where there’s enough food, a roof to protect you, security and equal opportunities for a good education. This doesn’t mean that those of you who put in more effort can’t do that. It’s absolutely okay as long as you don´t destroy the principle that everyone should be able to have a decent life.
Of course, I know very well that the way our world is working today it’s hard to even consider the possibility; if the world were going to change into one without borders, it would probably take many, many years, but it has to start somewhere!
I hope to encourage you to think ‘outside the box’, because the normal way of thinking isn’t working – otherwise why do you think we have so many problems around the world today? Could it be that the borders which stop so many people from having a decent life are an important factor?
What do you think?

Yesterday I was reading, as I do now and then in my notes of things that comes bye in my life and this note popped up and which I will share with you:
People are funny. They spend money they don´t have to buy things they don´t need to impress people they don´t like!
The average person claims that money doesn´t matter that much, yet works very hard for money. He knows that without it he can´t have a house, a car, clothes or food. He devotes tremendous effort to obtaining it and tremendous worry to not having enough of it. The real attitude is manifested in his actions.

I’ve just arrived back home from jogging about 10.5 km and today it was tough, in fact I was tired after doing only half the distance! So what did I do when this happened? Well, I continued to run – maybe at a slightly lower pace, but I continued. I’m absolutely sure that many people would have stopped and walked the rest of the distance because they felt exhausted.
When I started to feel the tiredness and still had half the distance to go, I remembered an occasion when I was out jogging with a friend of mine, some years ago. We were jogging side- by- side when suddenly, he told me that he was exhausted and needed to stop! I was very surprised because I hadn’t noticed any signs that he was even close to being tired!
I stopped anyway, as a friendly gesture, even though I wasn’t tired myself. I could immediately see that his interpretation of being exhausted was very different from mine, so I asked him if he had the taste of blood in his mouth. To my surprise he said, “Of course not!”
I can absolutely confirm that we don’t have the same terms of reference for defining exhaustion – indeed – they’re very far from each other. In my terms you’re not exhausted until you have the taste of blood in your mouth and your legs are close to not bearing you any more. To me, it’s a matter of attitude where you set your own limits for being exhausted, and also for everything else you do in life.
So today when I got really tired after running only half the distance, there was no thought in my mind to stop and walk the rest of the distance because I was simply not exhausted, not according to where I’ve set my limits.
This is not just about running, it applies to all you do in life! So how high have you set your limits and can you still push yourself that bit more?
Has your role model got the right attitude? June 28, 2009

I want to put the spotlight on the person you have as a role model and whom you spend time with.
Let’s start with a question for you; have you had the success in your life that you expected? (Remember that success is a highly personal evaluation so it’s your view that counts.)
Have you considered that the outcome of your bid for success may have something to do with your role model? Let’s say, for example, that you’re not satisfied with how things are. To me the natural questions to ask myself would be, ‘how come’, and ‘can I do anything about it?’
I would first focus on whether I have a role model and, if so, who is it and what positive things can he or she share with me? Most importantly, do they have sufficient or appropriate skills to help me?
There are so many people who use role models, but are they the best for you? Do they really have the necessary skills? This is so important since you’re allowing them to influence you and your decisions.
There are always reasons why you’re not succeeding in life, and often you’ll find them in the people you expected would act as your guide. The questions is – do they have enough of a good attitude and the skills you need?

I would like to share a part from Robert T Kiyosaki`s book Rich dad, poor dad:
“Robert was describing not only the difference between an employee and employer, but also the difference between controlling your own destiny and giving up that control to someone else.
But it is hard for most people to understand why that happens, I said they just think it is not fair.
That’s why it is foolish to simply say to child, get a good education, it is foolish to assume that the education the school systems provides will prepare children for the world they will face upon graduation. Each child needs more education and different education. And they need to know the rules. The different sets of rules.
There are rules of money that the rich play by and there are rules that the other 95 percent of the population plays by and the 95 percent learns those rules at home and in school.”
This might be something for some of you to think about?

Today I read in a newsletter about a girl of about thirteen or fourteen years old who was born without legs! In the newsletter was a photo in which she was sitting on a kind of electric wheel chair. She was out and “walking” with her hors and – do you know what? She’s going to the 2012 Olympics to compete in a Horse Jumping competition!
She has no legs!
I was totally amazed when I read how positive she feels about her life; she didn’t think she’d been forced to sacrifice anything so far in order to make her dream come true.
Talk about a great attitude! How many people are whining the whole time about little things that are not important? If it isn’t one thing it’s another. Be thankful for what you have instead of whining about what you don`t have. There’s always a reason for you feeling either satisfied or dissatisfied and that reason is your attitude.
Just look at this girl without legs and the attitude she’s created towards her life (which you can also create.) Her life could have been very limited and boring, but she decided to look at her life from another point of view and that’s the main reason she’s going to the Olympics in 2012!

It’s now happening again! Another country where the leaders openly show they intend do all that’s necessary to hang on to their power. In this specific case I’m thinking of Iran which has recently had elections and which the opposition claims the sitting president has won by vote rigging. Now the majority of the population who voted for the opposition are protesting on the streets of Tehran, and what happens? People are being shot down in the streets, journalists are not allowed to report, the internet is closed down and so on.
When will all these dictators learn that their power is not for oppressing peoples’ free thoughts and democratic rights. Power is used for real leadership when people understand that we are all, in one way or another, connected to each other, and for that reason we need to cooperate with each other in order to have a better world. Power that’s created over others is not real power, just look at these so-called leaders in Iran that need to use weapons in order to protect their positions..
Those who believe they have power but need to use weapons in order to maintain or use it, in reality do not have real power. You can’t have real power if you haven’t earned it, and that means that you’ve gained the respect of those you’re meant to lead – which is the normal definition of a leader. All of those who try to lead by violence, threats etc are not leaders, they are simply dictators.

Imagine that you want to undertake some personal development. You have a goal and while you know you want to get there, you’re not sure how to do it.
What’s the first thing you need to do? You must define what and where you are today, otherwise it will be impossible to start the process of development.
Imagine that you’re standing in the middle of a wilderness with a map showing the place you’re going to. It’s a great start having a map identifying all the roads leading to your goal, but will that be all you need? Will the map lead you to your goal? Well – no, unfortunately it won’t because first you need to know where you are right now in order to determine in which direction to go.
The same applies to your life. You may have defined a goal in life but you’ll need a plan of action to help you get there. This plan of action cannot be created if you don’t know where you are today, because that’s what your plan needs to be based upon if it’s to work!
Be sure that you know where you are today, because that will make it easier for you to plan for your future.

This I got from a friend of mine today Madeline Webster and you that follow my work on a regular basis now how much I valueate a great attitude. So I very much would like to share it with you:
The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.
To me, attitude is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstance, than failure, than success, than what other people think or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It can make or break a company, a church, a home.
The remarkable thing is you have a choice every day regarding the attitude you will embrace for that day.
We cannot change our past; we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable.
The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.
And so it is with you. You are in charge of your attitude.
